Living in the Chesapeake Bay region provides some of the best sailing in the country. I am an avid sailor, club racing each week in local waters. I was also an Officer-in-Charge with the Naval Academy Sailing Squadron for 14 years, teaching seamanship to midshipmen and taking them for their initial experience in the ocean, sailing to Bermuda, Halifax, Newport, and Portsmouth. In 1997 I served as quartermaster aboard an 85 yacht in the Rolex Transatlantic Challenge, attempting to beat the fastest time across the Atlantic, a record existing from 1905. I have delivered sailboats from 30 to 60 feet from the east coast of the United States to and from the Caribbean.

With a college degree in music, I maintain this interest on weekends. Currently I am playing upright bass with a local Baltimore artist by the name of Greg Shupe appearing on the coffee house scene in the Baltimore and Annapolis area.
